  Tbh I prefer the exjw Reddit over this forum, mainly because of the many polarizing (and imho often unreasonable or even dishonest) topics on politics around here.

  I find it easier to ignore a teenagers' dumb but somewhat funny memes than to ignore adults ranting about how 'the evil others' of whatever side are going to destroy the USA....

  The exjw reddit serves a lot of struggling people, especially the younger crowd. I think in terms of number of people finding support the exjw Reddit today helps more people than this forum (not that it's a contest).

  And I can also see how the memes might be annoying enough to not like exjw reddit :-)

  i was wondering about this.

  if california or other far left groups in charge would push for making pedophiles quote normal unquote.

  so it passed but has yet to be signed by newsom.

  If anyone wanted, they could have simply changed the definition of 'minor' without first changing this bill. The change that was now passed has absolutely no effect on a 'possible' (lol) change of the definition of 'minor'.

  Because a threshold for the age limit could easily have been added. The fact that it wasn't is deliberate.

  Of course it was. It is much more efficient for both reading and maintaining laws and bills when common terms are defined in one place, instead of in every single bill (or sentence) where the term is used.

  Dutch JW publish open letter protesting accusations of mishandling child abuse and government inquiry

  today watchtower netherlands published an open letter in a national newspaper, lamenting the accusations about them not handling child abuse issues very well.. they protest a scientific report made by utrecht university (by request of the government).. they protest almost everything our minister of justice has said about them.. they place themselves in the role of victims of unfair treatment, discrimination.. they point their finger a other religions (foremost the catholic church) because they are much worse.. they refer to jw being persecuted in wwii, as if that were relevant to the issue at hand.. all in all, they (probably) spent about 25k to 30k euro to publish their bullshit in a national newspaper.. not a single trace of any self-awareness, let alone even a hint of an apology.

  @menrov,

  They published their one page paid ad/letter in the paper Telegraaf only. I couldn't find it on the Telegraaf website.

  Afaik only regional radio/tv stations RTV Drenthe and RTV Noord reported on the letter.

  So it appears the national news media aren't very much impressed by JW's tantrum.

  And here's another thing, when the theme for this convention was being chosen, there was no Coronovirus on the horizon. Yet, can you think of a better theme for a convention than this one? Joy. What an appropriate theme for a convention...

  Hahaha such a funny guy. The whole convention utterly ignores current events. Apparently they only updated the last talk to include a reference to corona?

  If a person puts his complete trust in a Bible scholar, with an “if he says it, I believe it” attitude, would his faith ultimately be in the Bible or the scholar?

  I'd take this one a bit further even:

  If a person puts his complete trust in what somebody wrote centuries ago about their God/gods, with an “if he says it, I believe it” attitude, would his faith ultimately be in the Gods/gods or the ancient writer?
